Born in Providence Rhode Island a long time ago. Lived in
Primrose, RI on a chicken farm. A dear friend of my parents worked for
Hasbro toys, and as a result my sister and I had buckets of art and
craft kits to play with. Making my own clothes for my paper dolls was
probably the beginning of what I do today.
My family moved to Michigan where I attended a gifted high school, Cass
Tech. The art instruction I received was priceless; also Larry, my
sweetheart, and future husband, I met at Cass. Never wanting to take
another math class I attended college part time for art and history.
Married 1964, worked as a commercial artist, floral designer, and window
dresser, until 1973 my finest creation, a daughter, Amanda was born.
Mandy went off to school and I got bored. Signed up for Tole classes at
Henry Ford Museum-Greenfield Village. The rest is very typical; more
classes, more paint, and more books. Friends who wanted to learn, CDA in
Dallas 1988. Angels with fabric dresses, Santa's and witches dressed in
prints; a career is born.
Mandy married Scott in 1998, and we became instant grandparents to Rashontae. Our second grandchild, Elizabeth, was born in 2000,
and our third grandchild, Thomas, was born in 2003. Our empty nest now has more room for wood. Larry
and I have semi-retired, moved to Hale, Michigan, and spend more time at
home with
Jackie Daniels and Johnny Walker, our Jack Russell terriers, cutting wood,
painting, and sewing. Larry does the computer stuff and mails out
orders.
Always paint happy.
